AN Aberystwyth mental health charity and a Welsh language campaign group have shared £2,600 raised at a charity auction.

It was reported in the Cambrian News that Hawys Roberts, who is vice-chair of Cymdeithas yr Iaith in Ceredigion, was inspired to help raise money for Mind Aberystwyth after experiencing post-natal depression.

Hawys held an auction featuring a signed Joe Allen Wales football shirt, at Llety Parc on Friday, 9 September, which raised £2,600 to be shared equally between Mind Aberystwyth and Cymdeithas yr Iaith.

Speaking about her post-natal depression ahead of the auction, Hawys said: “I felt hopeless, frustrated and full of guilt. I feel there is a lack of understanding of mental health in general, and Mind does very valuable work in the community to reach out to people in need of help.”

A cheque for £1,300 was presented to the mental health charity at their offices on Mill Street last week, and Bethan Roberts, chief operating officer at Mind Aberystwyth, thanked Hawys and Cymdeithas for raising the money.

“Mind Aberystwyth would like to thank Hawys and all at Cymdeithas yr Iaith for all their hard work and dedication in organising a fantastic evening,” Miss Roberts said.
