A PENRHYNCOCH woman will take on a fundraising run to raise money for cancer research after her mother was diagnosed with breast cancer.

Rhian Daniell, a former Cambrian News advertising sales representative, will take part in the Race for Life in Aberystwyth on 14 May and is already nearing her fundraising target of £300.

Rhian, 23, decided she would take on the 5km run after seeing her mum Jackie go through treatment for breast cancer.

She said: “After seeing the ordeal my mum has gone through, she is so brave and is such an inspiration. Cancer can affect anyone at any time and it sure hit us like a tonne of bricks when we all found out.

“Five kilometres is nothing compared to the pain, injections, emotional and physical turmoil my mother and many others experience.”

Rhian will be joined by a group of her friends in taking part in the run and has launched a fundraising page to help raise money for cancer charities after seeing the good work the charities do.

She said: “The one thing I can truly say is that the support from Macmillan and other cancer charities, nurses, chemo units and others has been amazing.

“My family and I have seen the difference these charities can make. We have experienced their patience, 24-hour services and care.

“Donations really do make a difference, I can tell you from our own experience.

“If anyone would like to join me on the day, let me know, other than that I will see you at the finish line.”
