A mum saddled with a £100 parking fine after pulling into a Llangrannog car park to change her baby’s nappy has been let off the hook – following the intervention of the Cambrian News.
Esther Burge, who is pictured with her one-year-old son Ben, received the fine from One Parking Solution after pulling into the beach car park when its ticket machine was not working.
“I was issued with a £100 parking fine for a 12-minute period in which I pulled into this car park to change my one-year-old’s nappy and give him a bit of food,” she said.
“My husband got issued with one at 5am! And I have since met over 20 other people who have had fines when the machine isn’t working.”
But after One Parking Solution was contacted by the Cambrian News, a spokesman for the firm said they had decided to give Mrs Burge ‘the benefit of the doubt’ and allow her appeal.
The One Parking Solution spokesman confirmed that if the ticket machine was faulty motorists could pay by app, text or phone.
“I didn’t see the parking machine, I literally just pulled in to deal with the baby," Mrs Burge said. “It’s very easy to miss.”
