Madam,
In an article in last week’s paper you reported a comment by Cllr Lyndon Lloyd that residents and visitors to south and mid Ceredigion are being deprived of the opportunity to see exhibits from Ceredigion Museum. For many years the museum provided an exhibition of its collections relating to Cardigan in the now defunct Cardigan Heritage Centre. Objects from Ceredigion Museum are currently exhibited at Cardigan Castle. The museum supported this development by safeguarding items on behalf of the Castle for many years. These have now been returned together with objects from the museum’s collection and these are now on permanent display in the Castle.Ceredigion Museum also supports, with loans of objects and displays, New Quay Heritage Centre, Tregaron Kite Centre, Lampeter Museum, the Welsh Quilt Centre in Lampeter, Borth Railway Museum and Llandysul Library. Ceredigion Museum has also supported Cymdeithas Aberaeron for three years running with extensive loans of objects for their summer exhibitions and has provided a pop-up exhibition for Llangeitho to use when coach parties visit the birthplace of the preacher Daniel Rowland. I should like to assure readers that Ceredigion Museum takes very seriously its remit to preserve and promote the culture and heritage of the county on behalf of all its residents. The museum does its best to accommodate requests for loans and exhibitions, providing the venue is suitable and resources are available to undertake the work involved.
Yours etc,Lionel Madden, Chairman, Friends of Ceredigion Museum.
