Madam,

The National Grid’s latest so-called consultation on the various alternatives to carry the power from Wylfa in Anglesey have now been published.

The whole report is obsessed with the cost of the various schemes. They bandy about figures of millions of pounds for the cheapest schemes as if they were pennies, compared to the billions for the underground schemes.

Wales already produces far more power than we will ever need by healthier and less costly means. The bare and unpalatable fact is that the atomic station is required to provide electricity for the towns and cities of England.

The National grid could avoid all these exorbitant costs by building the station in the Midlands or southern England. But, of course, none of the English MPs want this atomic station within miles of their constituencies. Only some of the naive Welsh welcome this monstrosity.

Yours etc
