THE Wildlife Trust of South and West Wales’ Welsh Wildlife Centre in south Ceredigion has been nominated in a competition to find Britain’s favourite nature reserve.
Mark Hodgson, hospitality manager for the Welsh Wildlife Centre said they were “absolutely delighted” that the centre had been nominated for the award by top environmental magazine Landlove.
He said: “The Teifi Marshes Nature Reserve is an important and unique habitat supporting many different species of animals and plants.
“The reserve also means many different things to a lot of different people; lots come for the wildlife, families enjoy the adventure playground, some visit for their daily exercise or a social get-together and others come for peace and relaxation in an incredibly natural and beautiful environment.”
The Welsh Wildlife Centre and Teifi Marsh Nature Reserve is made up of a patchwork of habitats. These range from freshwater marsh with open pools, reedbed, alder carr and tidal mudflats, to open pasture, oak woodland and slate from historical quarrying.
