An Aberystwyth man who sent persistent offensive and abusive emails to a woman over the course of a month has been handed a community order for harassment.

Stuart Jones, of Caledfryn, Bryn Road, appeared for sentencing before Aberystwyth Magistrates’ Court on 19 August.

The 52-year-old had pleaded guilty at an earlier hearing in July to the harassment without violemnce of a woman in Aberystwyth between 31 May and 29 June.

The court heard that Jones sent “persistent emails over the course of a month that were offensive and abusive in nature.”

Jones was fined £80 and handed a community order to include rehabilitation.

He was also made the subject of a restraining order and must pay £85 costs and a £114 surcharge.
