ACCESS to Caradog Road by Aberystwyth’s park-and-ride bus service would only be “sporadic” while work is carried out at Bronglais Hospital, although Ceredigion council has admitted that statements that the road would be inaccessible for nine months were not correct.

Council Cabinet members voted against renewing the park-and-ride service, claiming that building work at the hospital would mean it was unable to access Caradog Road for around nine months.

However, a council spokesperson has admitted that it is not the case, but that access to Caradog Road will be “sporadic” over the next few months, depending on what work is taking place at the hospital site.

Hywel Dda Health Board has said the hospital’s Caradog Road entrance, to access the outpatients department, will be closed from 5 September until 13 September initially, but that the period of work is across nine months, including a new emergency fire evacuation lift and work on the operating theatres.
