Madam,

In reply to the letter by David Kirby last week, Was permission sought from council for shrine?, I would make the following points.

Although I did not originally seek permission to build the Our Lady of Craiglas shrine on Constitution Hill, Aberystwyth, I have discussed it with the council on several occasions over the years without issues.

The aim of the shrine is to be available to all religions. I know of its use by Christians, Buddhists, Hindi and Pagans, and there may well be others who use it as well.

The blocking of access followed my informing the council of the recent rockfall shortly after it happened.

I cannot see such rockfalls as a purely negative event as they provide the stones from which the shrine has been constructed.

Yours etc,

Allan Marsden, Cliff Terrace, Aberystwyth.
