Madam,

Having read the article ‘Call for council to engage with community on climate change”, I would just like to point out that the statement “In 2014, sea defences were upgraded by the Welsh Government at a cost of 6.8 million, following serious flooding” is in fact inaccurate. During the 2014 storm there was no flooding in Fairbourne village at all, whereas in Barmouth and other communities on this part of the Welsh coast, there was serious flooding. Also, no defences were breached in the 2014 storm. I think there has been a misunderstanding between the writer and the newspaper.

Yours etc, Angela Thomas, Clerk, On behalf of Arthog Community Council.
