A LLANDDEWI Brefi couple with no previous running experience are tackling the London Marathon for charity next April.
Russ and Kellie Lambert – who have two autistic children – will be running for Whizz-Kidz which helps disabled children by giving them access to wheelchairs and mobility aids.
And the pair – who have set themselves at cash target of £1,900 –have admitted that tackling the 26-mile race will take them way beyond their comfort zone.
“We’ve never run before – never tried a 5k or 10k race or anything like that,” Russ, 54, told the Cambrian News.
“I guess by running the London Marathon we’re throwing ourselves in at the deep end.
“But if you’re going to do it, either go big – or go home!
“To begin with we found running up and down the hills around here absolutely killing.
“But we’ve reached a point now where we find running on the flat relatively easy.
“The longest run we’ve made is down the mountain to the village and back which is probably a half-marathon.
“People around here are mostly used to the sight of sheep so the appearance of two people in shorts and tee-shirts struggling to breath has attracted a few quizzical glances!”
