A NURSERY set up as a replacement to an axed primary school has received a glowing report from the care industry watchdog.

Meithrinfa Deryn Bach, which is based in the old Ysgol Bryncrug building, has been lauded by the Care and Social Services Inspectorate Wales (CSSIW) after their visit in April.

The education facility was opened in 2015 after much hard work by owner Laura Holt and can cater for up to 26 children, creating an extra seven jobs in the area in the process.

In a recently released report, the CSSIW inspectors said of the nursery: “Children are happy, settled and engaged in their play.

“They receive good levels of individual care through a robust key worker system.

“Practitioners meet children’s diverse needs well and the environment is secure and health and safety is a high priority with effective risks assessments completed to ensure children are kept safe. The range of toys and equipment available is good and chosen to meet the particular age and interests of the children who attend.

“Leadership and management of the service is effective resulting in a successful level of care for the children by a committed team of practitioners.”

Laura was thrilled with comments in the report.

“We’ve been working very hard within the Nursery to ensure we are providing stand-out care that is above the National Minimum Standards,” she told the Cambrian News.
