A CORRIS Railway Society member is putting his best foot forward to help fund the construction of the railway’s new locomotive.
Andy Cooper is taking on a sponsored walk across Wales to help get keep the Number 10 loco project on track. Andy said: “I am looking to walk the 45-mile route in 18 hours, and if anyone would like to make my blisters a little more bearable, sponsorship forms can be downloaded from the Corris website www.corris.co.uk.”
Andy is based in Nottingham.
Progress continues on the construction of the new steam locomotive for the Corris Railway, with ongoing work at the workshops of Alan Keef and the casting of the driving wheels due to take place in Wolverhampton at the Barr and Grosvenor foundry. This has been made possible by continued fund-raising and donations. A Corris Railway Society spokesman said: “It is hoped that the new build loco, which will take the number 10, will join Number 7 in working trains in the Dulas Valley before too long, but all depends on continuing support for the project. “Number 10 will be a 21st century reconstruction of one of the three Falcon 0-4-2 saddle tank engines which worked Corris trains from 1879 (freight) and 1883 (passenger) onwards."
