RESIDENTS are being asked their opinions on the future of Harlech.

Gwynedd Council, with the support of strategic and local partners, is seeking views on how to maximise opportunities in Harlech by holding a drop-in session on Wednesday, 29 November between 12pm and 7pm at Harlech Memorial Hall, Twtil.

Harlech is noted for its unique heritage, its iconic castle, the Royal St David’s Championship Golf Course, its stunning coastline and for the aerospace and space technology opportunities at Llanbedr. But the town now needs a joint vision and a series of ideas to move on.

Over the past six months Gwynedd Council, with the support of the Welsh Government, Cadw and Snowdonia National Park Authority, has been developing a strategic guide for investment within Harlech.

Chris Jones Regeneration consultants have been working alongside this strategic partnership and have provided opportunities for the local community to have their say on ideas and future priorities.

Councillor Ioan Thomas, Gwynedd Council member for economic development, said: “The drop-in session is an opportunity to learn more about the strategic priorities for Harlech and to discuss how public, private and community organisations can work together for the benefit of the area.

“Members of the consultation team will be there to discuss the Harlech Strategic Priorities document, which was produced after the last consultation.”

Freya Bentham, councillor for Harlech/Talsarnau, said: “It’s important to keep the momentum going from the last successful consultation. Harlech has, as many people pointed out during the consultation, great potential to transform itself.

“But it’s important that everybody pulls together and takes part in the regeneration process. Therefore I urge local people to continue and to join the conversation by attending the drop in session on Wednesday, 29 November.”
