A PWLLHELI couple have been recognised for their outstanding contribution to foster care at an annual foster carer long service awards.
Sian and Evan Griffith who live in Pwllheli were presented with a ten year service award for their outstanding contribution to foster care with Foster Care Associates Cyrmu North.
They were among several other foster carers from across North Wales who were recognised for their long service contribution to foster care at the awards held at the Imperial Hotel in Llandudno.
The couple have looked after a diverse range of children and young people during their ten years with FCA Cymru North. Many of these children have had their own challenging and complex needs which the couple have worked hard to meet.
Sian Griffith said: ‘’We are delighted to receive this long service award from FCA. Over the years, we have made so many new friends and thoroughly enjoy being a part of the FCA family. Although being a foster carer is rewarding at times, it can be challenging so receiving this recognition has made us both extremely proud.”
Sandra Jones, registered manager for FCA Cymru North said: “We are delighted to present Sian and Evan with this long service award. They have provided tremendous support to the children and young people they have cared for over the past ten years.”
Foster Care Associates, which has offices in Wrexham and Abergele, has recently launched a recruitment campaign ‘what are you waiting for?’, inspired from the moment in 1994 when FCA’s co-founder, Jan Rees OBE, experienced what she calls her ‘lightbulb moment’ after reading an article on fostering.
This led to her life-changing decision to care for young people in need.
