AN ANXIOUS owner of a clifftop house has called for action following a massive landslide on the Llyn Peninsula.

A large section of cliff fell onto Porth Neigwl (Hell’s Mouth) last weekend when Storm Callum battered the region with high winds and torrential rain.

At Porth Neigwl beach, near Botwnnog, heavy rains caused tonnes of rock and dirt to come crashing down onto the picturesque bay, causing huge concern for Mark Whitaker who owns property ‘Siop Penrallt’ which is just a stone’s throw away.

The collapsing cliff worried the owner of the 17th century stone cottage, which is often let out as holiday accommodation for over £150 a night.

“It was a concern, a big concern,” Mark told the Cambrian News.

“We brought the property three years ago and we’ve not seen anything like this before.

“It’s an old house, and it’s withstood a lot over the years, but hopefully the council can put in some precautionary measures to protect the building, We’re the only property in such close proximity to the cliff edge.”
