An Aberystwyth deli owner is to appear on TV screens travelling the length and breadth of Wales introducing tapas to local communities.

Shumana Palit and Catrin Enid are two women who are passionate about food and the art of eating well.

They are both successful food entrepreneurs who want to shake the food industry in Wales by introducing Welsh tapas or small plates with a Welsh feel.

In a brand-new series on S4C, Bwyd Bach i Bawb, on Wednesday, 5 June, Shumana and Catrin travel around Wales introducing Welsh Tapas to communities throughout the country. Their mission will be to feed friends and family and introduce their tapas ideas using local produce.

In the first programme they feed a group of children in Aberystwyth and will aim to please the mothers at the same time.

Shumana runs delicatessen Ultracomida in Aberystwyth and Narberth and Curado in Cardiff, while Catrin manages her own business, Bara Menyn, in Cardiff.

Catrin, originally from Llanarth, comes from a family of butchers and good produce has always been important to her.

“As a child I loved spending time with Mamgu,” says Catrin

“We’re a large family with lots of cousins and while the men would be outside shearing, Mamgu and I would be busy baking.

"That’s where the inspiration for Bara Menyn came from – my memories of Mamgu’s kitchen and the fact that she hated wastage and had to use up absolutely everything!”
