A Blaenau Ffestiniog paramedic is to appear on a new TV show encouraging the people of Wales to get ‘FFIT’.

Emlyn Bailey will be one of five leaders chosen for the latest series of S4C show FFIT Cymru.

The new series of the health transformation series will be sponsored by Fitbit and hits screens on Tuesday, 2 April.

FFIT Cymru follows five leaders who will embark on a journey of a lifetime as they aim to change their health and lifestyle for the better.

Throughout the seven-week journey, they will be supported, advised and guided by the show’s team of experts: personal trainer Rae Carpenter, dietitian Sioned Quirke and psychologist Dr Ioan Rees.

They will face several challenges during the series before taking part in the national 5k parkrun challenge at the end of the series.

Emlyn is married to wife Katie and has two young daughters, Alis and Nansi.

Working as a trainee paramedic, 34-year-old Emlyn is a co-ordinator for the Aberglaslyn Mountain Rescue Team, but admits he is currently not fit enough to join them on rescues.

The target for Emlyn is to get into better physical shape to look better and give him more energy.

Viewers can also take part in the series by following the leaders’ tailor-made fitness and diet plans, all of which will be available at s4c.cymru/ffitcymru, and also by taking part in the parkrun alongside the five leaders.

Sioned Quirke said: “I can’t wait to start working with the five leaders we have this year. They come from all walks of life. They all have their problems, but they all have lovely stories.

“The whole point of FFIT Cymru is to encourage our five leaders to transform their lives, in the hope that they can inspire the nation to join them. We saw it happen last year and hopefully even more people will join us his year.”
