A TALYBONT couple who vowed to “remember their little boy in the most positive way they can” after he tragically died less than half an hour after being born, have already raised £2,500 for a children’s charity they set up in his name.

Kara Wyn Jones and Sam Penfold, lost their son Arthur Wyn in March last year, and now have a dream of setting up an all-purpose retreat in Portugal where children from the ages of 11 to 16 will come from all over the world to enjoy activities from gardening and cooking to kayaking and beekeeping through the Arthur Wyn Foundation.

The couple said they are hoping to reach the £10,000 mark this year.

The latest event will be a five-a-side football tournament held in Penrhyncoch on 9 September.

It is hoped the event, which will include a children’s morning with games for under 8s, 9s, 10s and 11s followed by an afternoon for adults, will raise £1,000 for the foundation.

To enter a team in the charity tournament, and for more information, email [email protected].

All entries must be submitted before 2 September.

Money from the Arthur Wyn Foundation will give children the opportunity to try 24 activities, one for each of the 24 minutes that Arthur Wyn lived.
