ON Wednesday, 11 May, Father Agbor Fredrick Isek was formally inducted by the Rt Rev Peter Brignall, Bishop of Wrexham, as the first Parish Priest of the new Parish of the Most Holy Redeemer and St Joseph’s.

This follows the reorganisation of the Diocese in which the former parishes of Porthmadog and Pwllheli were amalgamated into one under the Pastoral care of Father Fredrick.

Originally from Nigeria, Father Fredrick has worked for the Missionaries of St Paul in many parts of the world, spending the last 10 years in Grenada before coming to Wales in September last year.

The Induction Mass was the first time for members of both churches to come together to worship as one parish, and the service was also attended by a large number of Priests and Ministers from other denominations in both Porthmadog and Pwllheli. The Mass led by Bishop Peter was concelebrated by a number of Priests, including friends of Father Fredrick from the Missionaries of St Paul, and the Liturgy was enhanced by a performance of Bryd’s Ave Verum sung by Schola Sant Joseff.

A buffet reception was held in the Hall afterwards.
