Editor,

It was splendidly glass half full for the folk of Llanbedr in Gwynedd. The Welsh Government has cancelled the £14m bypass that would have strangled the village.

Soon the wildlife corridor from the river up to the south will be open, allowing wildlife and pedestrians to climb up the hill with safety and ease.

All that was needed was a four-way light at the bridge to let the cars and trucks run through.

For us up here by the ancient forest, we can hear an owl calling to her young, or teaching her owlets to catch mice in the nautical twilight that precedes the dawn.
