Dorothy ‘Peg’ Aspin celebrated her 100th birthday at Plas Newydd residential home in Criccieth.

Peg was delighted to receive a card from the Queen and to see her whole family come together on her special day.

Peg was born in Blackburn before moving to Criccieth 74 years ago, where she has spent most of her adult life.

Peg and her husband Bill, who passed away 22 years ago, ran two hotels in Criccieth, with a little help from their three children, Caroline, Christine and John.

Peg also has three grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Pictured with Peg is Vel Chedumbrum, the proprietor and director of Vel Healthcare Company, who has been taking care of vulnerable people for the last 48 years. Peg is his first ever resident to reach their 100th birthday.

Vel said: “Peg is a very loving and caring lady and her family are very supportive and devoted to her.

“We look forward to giving her our continued loving care.

“I would like to thank all my staff for the outstanding care they show towards our residents.”
