Parking restrictions in Penparcau are set to undergo their first dedicated review in around eight years.
The review could result in changes to yellow lines, double and single, as well as other parking restrictions across the area, with residents and other stakeholders expected to be formally consulted before any alterations are made.
Aberystwyth town councillors were updated on the plans at a meeting on 28 September, when Cllr Shelley Childs said a separate parking review was being undertaken specifically for Penparcau.
Members were told that a formal consultation would take place concerning yellow lines and other restrictions, and that a review of this nature had not been carried out in the area for approximately eight years.
Any eventual changes would have to go through Ceredigion County Council’s formal decision-making process.
The Penparcau work comes as parking and highways restrictions are also being examined more widely across the county. Earlier this year, councillors were told that a county-wide review of parking and highways matters, including double yellow lines, was due to take place through a formal consultation process.
At an Aberystwyth Town Council meeting in April, members were encouraged to begin identifying locations where changes could be beneficial ahead of consultation with county councillors, town councils and eventually the wider public.
Parking has previously been raised as an issue by Aberystwyth councillors, with concerns including vehicles being left on double yellow lines, at junctions and around corners.
Minutes from a meeting in November 2025 recorded councillors being told that an upcoming highways review would provide an opportunity to raise such concerns, with the exercise focused on parking regulations and enforcement rather than parking charges.
No specific changes to restrictions in Penparcau have yet been confirmed, with proposals expected to depend on the outcome of the consultation.
