FUND-RAISERS from Bronglais Hospital’s pharmacy department have more than doubled their original target.

Fourteen members of the pharmacy department took part in the Muddy Mountain challenge at Penrhyncoch at the end of January as they looked to raise money for three local charities close to their hearts.

The team had set a target of raising £2,000 for Apêl Elain, GoFelix and Blood Bikes Wales, but they have already raised almost £4,500 with potentially more to come.

Apêl Elain raises money for charities that support an Aberystwyth girl with congenital heart disease; GoFelix supports a three-year-old boy with a rare genetic brain disorder; and Blood Bikes Wales is a team of volunteers that provide a courier service to health facilities out of hours.

Emma Nurse, one of the team members, said the team had links with all of the charities and were delighted to have raised so much money.

She said: “We have raised £4,474.40 in total. We are still waiting to hear whether one of the local banks will sponsor us.

“We are thrilled to have raised so much.”
