WORK will soon begin on building 45 new homes in Caernarfon after permission was granted by council planners.
Plans submitted by Cartrefi Cymunedol Gwynedd to build the development on the former Ysgol Hendre site in Caernarfon have been given the green light with work due to start in February 2019.
Beech Developments (NW) Ltd, which is based in Llandudno Junction will work in partnership with CCG to build the houses at Hendre, Caernarfon.
Once completed, 22 of the houses will be sold by Beech and 23 houses will be let on social rent by CCG.
The scheme will be a mixture of properties including two, three and four bedrooms houses and bungalows, some of which will be specially adapted for people with disability.
Outline application for the application had been approved in January 2017, but on Monday, 17 December, saw members of Gwynedd Council’s planning committee approve an officers’ recommendation to allow the more detailed plans to proceed.
Following the decision, CCG’s chief executive Ffrancon Williams said: “We are very proud to be working with Beech Developments on this scheme, a company from North Wales with a long-standing reputation for developing new homes.
“With approximately 1200 applicants on the waiting list for affordable housing in Caernarfon it’s so important for us to be playing our part in providing people with efficient, modern and comfortable homes in the communities they want to live.
“This will be our largest scheme to date and our first in Caernarfon, and I’m really excited to see the work starting on site.”
