CALLS are being made for people to register their interest in affordable home schemes across Dwyfor and Meirionnydd.
Catrin Roberts, who is now Grwp Cynefin’s affordable homes manager, has called for people priced out of buying a home at open market value, to contact the team to find out if they could be eligible for their affordable housing schemes in north Wales.
Catrin said: “Today, there are many options for people who may struggle to buy at full market value, to become homeowners. These options include shared ownership, home buy and shared equity.
“For example, with shared equity, you may see a new home with a market value of £220,000, but your income means you can only afford repayments on a mortgage of £110,000. In this instance, you could buy 50 per cent of the property, whilst Grwp Cynefin retains the charge on the remaining 50 per cent. The percentage you fund would therefore be dependent on your income and the requirements of the scheme."
“The arrangement stays like that until you decide to sell, however many years later that is."
