Gwynedd County Council planning committee members approved plans for the Ty Isaf site at the edge of Tudweiliog to add an extra 11 pitches for touring caravans – increasing numbers from 15 to 26.
Nefyn councillor Gruffydd Williams said he would support the application, which received letters of objection from nearby village residents, but warned of over-development that could see the area become like Prestatyn.
“I will support this because it’s in the village boundary,” he told planning members at the meeting on Monday, 3 April.
“Usually I would object because it is an over-development in general terms in the area.
“I notice that one of the statements in the public consultation said that there is concern that, given the number of sites in the area, it will turn into one enormous caravan site.
“It would be shame to turn the area into a very large Prestatyn with caravans all over the place.”
The approval will see additional landscaping and improved facilities at the site, but nearby residents expressed concern that 26 caravans would be “excessive”.
