CONCERNS have been raised over proposals for a new quad bike safari course on the Llyn Peninsula.

Dragon Raiders Activity Park in Criccieth has applied for planning permission to develop its existing land for the quad bike safari activity in addition to the existing segway, paintball and bushcraft activities.

It is hoped the new initiative would bring an extra three jobs to the area.

The proposal will be put before Gwynedd Council’s planning committee on Monday, 23 July, and has been recommended for approval by planning officials.

However, Llanystumdwy Community Council has objected on the grounds of noise pollution, the environmental impact of the project and “doubts about the accuracy of a number of facts on the application”.

A number of local residents have also objected to the plans expressing their worry about additional traffic and the “detrimental effect” on local amenities.

They have also criticised a lack of consultation by the planning authority and the applicant. Initially, nearby neighbours were not sent letters about the plans but correspondence was sent at a later date after local uproar.

A formal ‘noise impact’ assessment has been compiled after a request through a public consultation and the report found the conclusions acceptable.

The planning officers have subsequently stated that they believe this proposal is “acceptable and satisfies the requirements of the relevant policies”.

A decision will be made by the planning committee in Caernarfon on Monday.
