AN ABERYSTWYTH hotelier is planning to turn a well-known listed building into flats.

Emyr Davies wants to turn former county court building Edleston House in Queens Road into five flats.

Edleston House has been up for sale since 2014 and documents submitted to the county council as part of the planning application suggest hotelier Emyr Davies will pay £300,000 for the listed building.

The plans are to convert the two-storey building into four two-bedroom flats and a single one-bedroom flat which could sell for around £870,000 in total.

While the plans would involve internal work to create the five flats, the application documents state that there would be little change to the exterior of the building, which is owned by the county council.

A design and access statement included as part of the application says: “Little change is proposed to the external appearance of the building and, where changes do occur, these are generally confined to the rear and side extensions.

“There are no proposals to restore the elevations and roof other than repairs and redecoration.

“The rear elevations, mainly in the extensions, have a modicum of change in the placement of new windows and doors. These are to be detailed to match the original style used in the remainder of the building."
