AN Aberystwyth housing development that stalled when the contractor went bust should be completed in late spring, it has been claimed.
Work on the building of 22 flats at the former Tabernacle Chapel site in Mill Street ground to a halt in June 2016 when Aberystwyth-based contractor Vallis FM went into receivership.
Since then there has been little progress on the Mid Wales Housing Association development, which received significant Welsh Government funding of more than £330,000.
A spokesperson for Mid Wales Housing said alternative contractors had been put in place to carry out some work on the scheme, but that the flats were not expected to be completed until late spring.

“There have also been delays in relation to fabrication and erection of the steel staircase and concourse works which give access to the upper four storeys.
“However, work will continue in the new year with the aim of completing the scheme in late spring 2017.
“Mid Wales Housing Association apologises for the delay of this development but it is working towards the earliest possible completion date in order that new residents can start enjoying living in their new homes.”
