A former village post office looks set to be developed into a house, over 10 years after selling its last book of stamps.
A planning application has been submitted to transform the former Post Office on Ffordd Glanypwll, Tanygrisiau, Blaenau Ffestiniog, by knocking the interior walls and adjoining it with the house next door.
According to the applicants, Mr K Edwards and Ms F Jones, the post office would then be used as a living room for the much larger home next door.
The design and access statement accompanying the application, notes: “The post office has been closed for over 10 years and with no other suitable commercial use in this small village the property has since been empty and was put up for sale in 2017.
“The applicants purchased the property in the summer of 2018 and hope to bring life back to the building by renovating the existing property inside and out and converting the old post office room into a living area for the dwelling.
“The existing shopfront has character but due to neglect the timbers are rotten and beyond repair therefore we propose to remove the shopfront and replace with new windows and doors which will match those on the adjoining dwellings.”
Gwynedd Council’s planning department will discuss the application in due course.
