A DERELICT building in Porthmadog, which has been viewed as an eyesore in the town for many years, has gone up for sale.

Colliers International have been instructed as receivers over Snowdon Mill and hope to sell the building as a development opportunity, as the site previously received planning permission for 27 apartments with on-site car parking.

The building, owned by Belgrave Homes Ltd, has been seen as an eyesore in the town for many years and news that it could soon be sold has been welcomed by Porthmadog councillor Jason Humphreys.

He said: “The dilapidated state of the old mill has been a huge thorn in the side of Porthmadog for many years.

“I’ve very fond memories of this place as the home of the Porthmadog Pottery with its magnificent Ed Povey mural depicting many of the town’s wonderful characters.

“It’s remained a ruin and an eyesore since the firm that was developing it into luxury flats went under long before work could be completed.”
