SKILLED students from a local college have helped build homes for Meirionnydd residents.
As the development of 12 new homes, by Cartrefi Cymunedol Gwynedd at Wenallt Uchaf Dolgellau, is nearing completion, three young people have been learning the tricks of the trade onsite with local contractors.
Hayley Daniels, Tanni Rogers and Cai Rutigaliano are all students at Coleg Meirion-Dwyfor studying construction under the Creative Solutions scheme. Hayley and Tanni are training to be plasters whilst Cai is training to become a plumber.
CCG’s business support and training officer Llyr ap Gruffydd said: “Offering training and employment opportunities is always important to us when working with contractors on schemes like Wenallt Uchaf.
“As well as developing new affordable homes, CCG is committed to ensuring that the wider community benefits from our projects.
“Working together with Coleg Meirion-Dwyfor and GMC, we were able to offer work placement opportunities to these students. Three new apprentice opportunities were also created and work experience placements offered to unemployed people. The feedback from everyone has been very positive.”
