Dr Marc Rowlands has put in a full change-of-use planning application for the Grade II-listed building to become the new headquarters of Lampeter Family Centre.
The move follows the revelation in the summer that question marks hung over the future of the centre which had developed into a well-used support service in the Lampeter area over the past two years.
Situated at Ganolfan Dulais, Lampeter Family Centre is being forced to move due to the demolition of its current base as part of a major refurbishment.
The move to Church House is viewed as a temporary solution.
Dr Rowlands told the Cambrian News this week that the proposed move had the solid backing of the congregation of St Peter’s Church.
“St Peter’s folk have an enormous regard for the work of Lampeter Family Centre and are delighted to support it in a practical way by making Church House available,” he said.
“For me as vicar this seems to be a natural fit and I wish the centre well. Church House has always had some kind of community value attached to it and there’s an enormous amount of goodwill towards the centre.”
If the plans get the go-ahead from Ceredigion County Council, the newly relocated centre would employ one full-time member of staff and one part-time.
