LONG-suffering residents of Llanfair Clydogau are pleading with council officials to remove bags of rubbish left at a rural roadside following a three-day illegal rave held last month.

People living around Llanddewi Brefi and Llanfair Clydogau were left fuming after around 2,000 revellers turned up for a hedonistic event which was likened to the notorious mass countryside raves of the 1990s.

Wildlife experts also claimed the rave may have had a damaging effect on one of Wales’ largest colonies of red squirrels which live nearby, and angry locals appealed to Dyfed-Powys Police to ensure no more events are held.

Now, in an email to AM Elin Jones, local community councillor Alan Leech has highlighted the amount of rubbish gathered following the event which is still awaiting collection.

“These bags have now been there for over three weeks,” he said.

“Ceredigion council officials have said they will not remove the rubbish because ‘it’s on private land’.

“Tilhill, the managers of the land in question, have asked the county council to remove it, but their request has not been acceded to."
