Madam,
The article, ‘Force carrying stigma of war waged on motorists’, seems to imply that the North Wales Police reputation for being strict on speeding is entirely a bad thing. I suggest otherwise.
Although we still have accidents in the region, and far too much high-speed driving is going on (as witness some recent letters and reports), hopefully it is not as many as if the local police were considered soft on speeding.
Sadly, we have had a number of recent incidents with serious consequences for those involved, but I suspect also many near misses. We need to reinforce any reputation for a no-tolerance policy on speeding and bad driving.
Yours etc, David Church, Tywyn.
