POLICE have visited a family in Llangeitho today (Saturday) following complaints from locals - but say no lockdown rules have been broken.

Locals in Llangeitho raised concerns over the arrival of a family, believed to be from France, on Friday.

In a statement this evening, Dyfed Powys Police said they are aware of a family who moved to Llangeitho from outside the area, adding: “Dyfed-Powys Police is aware of some community concern in the Llangeitho area of Ceredigion, relating to a family who moved there from outside the area.

“Officers have today (6 June) spoken to the family and determined there has been no breach of Covid-19 restrictions/legislation.

“They have been given advice on social distancing etiquette.”

The visit comes after Barbara Horsfall Turner, who has lived in the village for 32 years, wrote to the police and local politicians, airing her concerns.

She said: “Some people have arrived in the village yesterday having come all the way from France to rent a house on the village square.

“Their arrival and subsequent actions exposes the entire village community to the possibility of Covid-19.

“At the very least these people should have a 14 day quarantine enforced.

“All the people of this community, which contains many vulnerable and also sheltered individuals, have made many sacrifices over the past 12 weeks, to ensure the safety of all."
