DRIVERS in Dwyfor and Meirionnydd have been warned of extremely dangerous driving conditions this weekend.

With temperatures expected to drop this coming weekend, North Wales Police are urging people to stay safe on the roads.

The Met Office have issued a yellow ‘Be aware’ warning for ice across North Wales tonight (Friday) and into tomorrow (Saturday).

Several collisions were reported to the North Wales Police Control Room this morning, although thankfully nobody was reported to have been seriously injured.

Superintendent Alex Goss from North Wales Police’ Joint Communications Centre said: “The cold weather is set to continue this weekend so I am urging all motorists to take care on the roads and drive according to the conditions.

“Please allow extra time for your journeys and keep a check on weather reports for your area.”

Motorists also need to ensure their vehicle is roadworthy for the conditions – and to check tyres, windscreens washers and wipers, lights, petrol and oil levels and that the heater works.

Ice should also be cleared fully from the windscreen.
