CEREDIGION County Council has refused to answer questions amid claims that the cost of the new Aberystwyth bandstand has soared by hundreds of thousands of pounds.
The Cambrian News understands the council is facing significant additional costs for the bandstand, which was officially opened in October 2016 after a string of delays.
But the council has refused to make any comment on the situation, failing to answer questions and instead passing the questions over to the council’s Freedom of Information department.
One source claimed the council was facing a bill of an additional £300,000 following a claim by W B Griffiths & Sons of Haverfordwest, the contractors for the scheme.
It has been suggested that the money could have to come from the council’s capital programme which could hit other infrastructure schemes across the county.
After the Cambrian News put a string of questions to the council about the bandstand, a spokesperson said there would be no comment and the council would only respond in terms of an FOI application.
