On Monday, 13 June, the Institute of Welsh Politics at Aberystwyth University hosts a public event to discuss the EU referendum.

It’s the latest in a series of similar discussions held around the UK in the run-up to polling day on Thursday, 23 June.

The event brings together a panel of experts on European issues: Prof Michael Keating from Aberdeen University, a leading professor on European politics and the current director of the ESRC Centre on Constitutional Change; Alan Davies, the newly appointed chief executive of the FUW, and Dr Alistair Shepherd, an expert on European politics and a senior lecturer in the Department of International Politics at Aberystwyth University.

The event will be chaired by Sara Gibson, of the BBC.

The discussion will be held in the Morlan Centre at 6pm, with coffee and cakes served from 5.30pm.

All are welcome and admission is free.

Speaking ahead of the event, Dr Anwen Elias, director of the Institute of Welsh Politics, emphasised the importance of discussions such as this in the run-up to the referendum.

“We are delighted to welcome Prof Michael Keating back to Aberystwyth to share his views on the referendum, and to do so in discussion with Alan Davies and Dr Alistair Shepherd and the people of Aberystwyth and Ceredigion,” said Dr Elias, a leading expert on European politics and comparative regionalism within Europe.
