VETERAN Cardigan councillor Gwynfi Jenkins – a four-time mayor of the town – has stood down after 41 years on the authority.
Mr Jenkins, who attended his first town council meeting in 1976, said: “It has been a pleasure to be on the council and there are a lot of memories.
“I am proud that I was behind the idea of having the rubbish bins in the car parks and the meals-on-wheels service.
“I will miss it.”
Cllr Clive Davies said: “We have always appreciated Gwynfi’s wise words and there has never been too much waffle.
“He always considered carefully what he said.”
