DR FELIX Aubel has been selected as the prospective Conservative Assembly candidate for Ceredigion.

Speaking after the selection, held at the Feathers’ Hotel in Aberaeron, Dr Aubel said he was delighted to have been selected and his aim was now to campaign hard for people living in this “wonderful area”.

Congregational minister Dr Aubel added: “As someone who works in a caring profession, I have the overall experience and knowledge to champion a compassionate Conservatism to further improve services in our hospitals and social care centres – places I frequently visit in the course of my work.”

A fluent Welsh speaker and former school teacher, one of Dr Aubel’s prime concerns is the state of education in Ceredigion and Wales as a whole.

“I am acutely aware of the need to further improve educational and employment opportunities in Ceredigion.

“These improvements, along with better access to good housing, will not only serve to boost the local economy, but also help to improve quality of life.”

The son of a greengrocer, Dr Aubel will champion the small businesses that he says are vital to the future of Ceredigion.

He also has family connections within agriculture and tourism that will help him promote these rural industries.

A resident of Aberaeron until less than a decade ago and both a history and theology graduate of the University of Wales Lampeter, Dr Aubel now lives in Trelech in Carmarthenshire.

He also works as an antiques broadcaster for S4C TV’s Prynhawn Da and Heno programmes.
