A NEW puppy has inspired a prospective Porthmadog county councillor to help stamp out dog fouling in the town.
Following the adoption of her family’s new pet beagle called Pabi, Nia Jeffreys will make sure the council puts more dog waste bins in Porthmadog East if she is elected in May’s elections.
According to Nia more bins are needed along routes popular with dog walkers like Cob Crwn and Lôn Fach between Porthmadog and Tremadog.
Nia said: “Pabi joined us at Christmas, the children love her and we enjoy taking her out for walks as a family.
“There are so many beautiful places to go right on our door step like Cob Crwn, the nursery and local beaches.
“We’re all getting a lot more exercise since Pabi joined us.
“But since walking out and about with Pabi, many local people have raised the problem of dog fouling with me.
“They are concerned about the risk to children and the town looking dirty, it’s also horrible for wheelchair users who can get dog waste on their hands.”
Nia’s new canine acquaintance has opened her eyes to the problems around the town.
