THE Assembly Member for Dwyfor and Meirionnydd welcomed schoolchildren from Trawsfynydd and Blaenau Ffestiniog to the Senedd this month.

Pupils from Ysgol Bro Hedd Wyn and Ysgol Manod were taken on an educational tour of the Senedd.

Dafydd Elis-Thomas AM was given the opportunity to meet and greet the pupils. He also talked to the pupils about his work in the National Assembly for Wales and the significance of the Assembly’s work across Wales.

He said: “It was a pleasure to meet pupils from both Ysgol Bro Hedd Wyn and Ysgol Manod.

“They had an opportunity to see the Senedd building and the highly skilled education team based here gave them an excellent presentation.

“I very much hope that all pupils enjoyed their visit to the Senedd and Cardiff.

“I have had the pleasure of welcoming many schools to the Senedd here at the National Assembly over the last five years.

“By coming here, children and young people are given the opportunity to see and learn what democracy really means in practice.

“They hopefully leave here with a feeling that the Assembly belongs to them.”

Falmai Ellis, headteacher of Ysgol Bro Hedd Wyn, said: “It was great to visit the National Assembly for Wales today – a beautiful building. We also enjoyed the tour by the Assembly’s educational team.

“I’m sure that all pupils have learned a lot about what goes on here.”
