THE resignation of another councillor from Barmouth Town Council is a “major blow”, according to the mayor.
Lark Davies, who spent several years on the town council, has announced she is stepping down, just days after the resignation of former Barmouth mayor John Sam Jones.
The Cambrian News understands one of the reasons Mrs Davies left was because of an “increased work commitment”.
The former councillor did not wish to make an official statement about her reasons for resigning.
However, Barmouth mayor Matthew Harris has lamented the fact that Mrs Davies is no longer a councillor.
“Lark’s resignation has come as a major blow, not just to me personally, but to the town as a whole, as I feel her contributions to discussions and her determination to better the town have been invaluable and will be greatly missed,” Cllr Harris told the Cambrian News.
“She has been at the forefront of everything the council has achieved over her time as a town councillor and her input, dedication and willingness to put her time aside to benefit the town has been unmoving and unwavering throughout.
“One of her many successes has been the late-night shopping event in the town, which she personally organised to great effect over many years.
“I think I speak on behalf of all of the townspeople and visitors alike, when I say thank you to her for making that evening so special for us all.
“I wish Lark all the best for the future.”
Town councillor Rob Triggs added: “She will be sorely missed, she is very valued member of the community.”
