A woman from Chwilog held a pop-up café at her home to raise money for charity.
Marilyn Adams, 81, wanted to raise money for the blind and Dwyfor Dystonia, which helps people with the movement disorder in which a person’s muscles contract uncontrollably.
Marilyn, who lives just across the road from Dylan Thomas, has Dystonia, and her friends Rene Evans and Katie Griffith are partially sighted.
After rallying a group of 19 friends together the hard work of organising the event started and soon everything was in place for the event.
The village of Chwilog and much further afield turned out to support Marilyn and, at the end of a very busy afternoon, just over a £1,000 was collected from people who came to enjoy a cup of tea, a slice of cake and the opportunity to buy from a range of stalls and the raffle.
Marilyn said: “I wish to thank the group who helped with the organising, anybody who donated and of course the people who attended to make it a fun filled and special day to get together for a chat, which is so important.
“I just love getting people together like this.
“I will be handing out the money to the two charities very soon. A cheque for £200 will be presented to Dwyfor Dystonia group and the remaining money will be presented to the local blind association.”
