A POPULAR Llanuwchllyn farmer and father-of-four died after falling through the roof of an outbuilding he was trying to repair, an inquest has heard.

The inquest heard how he had been trying to fix storm damage on an outbuilding when he fell through the roof.

The married father-of-four died in hospital at Stoke on Trent the following day.

Coroner Dewi Pritchard Jones said: “For some reason he fell from that roof on to a hard concrete area.

“He struck his head on the concrete and suffered catastrophic injuries and died the following day.”

Mr Pritchard Jones said: “This seems to be a not unusual accident where farmers are concerned.”

Mr Edwards’ son, Telor, told the inquest how he had heard the sound of someone falling and found his father on the floor.

His father said that his head was hurting and he was taken by air ambulance to Stoke on Trent’s specialist head trauma unit, where he died the following day.

Pathologist Dr Mark Lord said the injuries suffered by Mr Edwards, which included bruising and a fracture of the left side of his head, were consistent with a fall from height.
