Treasure hunt
YOUNGSTERS in Porthmadog took part in a festive treasure hunt in the town to help encourage the community to do their shopping on the high street. The treasure hunt was set up to encourage residents to come out to the local shops and to visit the businesses to search for a number of baubles which had numbers on them. The children who found the most baubles and won prizes were Ella Connolly, from Ysgol y Gorlan, who received £25 to spend on Porthmadog High Street; Sophie Marples, of Ysgol Cefn Coch, was second and received £15; and Elis Puw came third and received £10. A spokesperson on behalf of the organisers of the treasure hunt said: “We would like to say thank you to the chairman of Porthmadog Town Council, Cllr Selwyn Griffiths for providing the prizes.“Thanks also to the children and their parents who came out and found the 30 Christmas baubles that were hidden in different shops and businesses in the town.“Also, thanks to Glitter Box Porthmadog for providing the baubles free of charge and everyone who supported the event.”Glosters also won the best dressed window competition and St David’s Hospice took the best dressed window in the charity shop category (see pictures above).
