AN area of Porthmadog is without power today following reports of a small explosion near the town’s Tesco store.

Eyewitnesses reported a small explosion and feeling a rumble underground earlier this morning with engineers currently on the scene working to restore power.

Scottish Power say: “There is a power cut affecting the LL49 postcode area of Porthmadog, affecting properties in Llys Glyndwr, Railway Place and surrounding areas. “We had no advance warning of this and only became aware of it at 9:05am.

“In order to complete repairs, engineers on site needed to isolate the power to other properties and we expect the power to be restored by 2.30PM.

“We will update this message if this information changes.

“We apologise for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience.”
