THE Post Office is proposing to restore services to Garndolbenmaen and Llanfrothen with a new mobile outreach service.
The mobile outreach service, whereby a nearby postmaster provides a service at a set time each week, would be operated by the postmaster from Criccieth Post Office, who would visit the communities every week.
The mobile would visit Garndolbenmaen every Monday between 1pm and 2pm outside the Village Hall and Llanfrothen between 1.15pm and 2.15pm outside Siop Y Pentref.
The new mobile service is located near the branches in Garndolbenmaen and Llanfrothen which have temporarily closed in recent years.
To accommodate the proposed new mobile services the Post Office are also proposing changes to the current services at Pant Glas and Efailnewydd.
The Post Office is now inviting customers and interested parties to give their comments on the move in a six week public consultation.
Cllr Stephen Churchman, who represents the area of Garndolbenmaen on Gwynedd Council, has welcomed the news and says it will benefit his community who lost their post office almost two years ago.
He said: “When my shop and post office ceased trading 18 months ago, I was given the promise that Post Office would leave no stone unturned in their effort to provide the people of Garndolbenmaen with a Post Office service.
“Having constantly reminded them of the need for this service, I welcome the announcement that this is shortly to be introduced.”
